GREETINGS FROM COACH WELLS

About me

Greetings! I am Coach Wells. Owner and Health and Wellness Consultant of Tone At Home Fitness. A mobile fitness business. I meet my clients at their homes, offices, or their favorite park in order to provide them with the best nutritional and exercise programs available. Mobile fitness at it's finest! I specialize in individual and group fitness classes such as Turbo Kick Boxing (TKB), Fitness Boot Camp, and Running. I am also a Nutrition Coach. I teach, or guide if you will, people just like you and I on how to eat healthy, prepare nutritious, well balanced, meals, grocery shop and monitor their eating habits. I encourage, motivate and challenge them in making sure they are exercising and staying on track with their personalized fitness program that I design and implement with them. I provide phone coaching. I make weekly or bi-weekly calls to my clients to help motivate them and answer any questions they may have about their diets and exercise. Sometimes they just need a little verbal coaching to push them forward. Focus on their weight loss goals and follow through until we meet for our next workout session.

A lot more than just meeting with clients goes into running a mobile fitness business. There are countless hours of research, networking, marketing, education, technology, etc. In order to stay on top in the fitness industry I have to be aware of and know the latest exercises, correct equipment for each individual workout, and the most updated health and fitness information. I have to be able to explain and demonstrate to the client how to properly execute body movement. Not just the exercise itself. I am handling another person’s physical well being.  I’m not just instructing I’m also a part of the workout. I can stand there all day like I see some trainers do in the big commercialized gyms. Hovering over you watching as I tell you what’s next. Instead I choose to make your experience personable, comfortable, give you encouragement while making you work up a sweat at the same time.

My clients have fun, stay motivated and are totally engaged because I take the time to listen. It is hard enough just to get started. Exercising and diet aren't all physical. It’s 90% mental. How many times have you said, “I don’t have time to workout.”?  “That’s too hard.”  “I have my kid’s activities.” If you have time to sit in front of the TV eating, go out to dinner, spend all hours on Facebook and video games, texting, on the phone gossiping, you have time to workout. Nobody is stopping you but you!

How I got started

What got me started in this field was the amount of time I spend in the gym, outdoors running and how much I truly enjoy working out. It relieves stress, increases energy levels, promotes weight loss, tones, refines you into a sculpted machine. Working out decreased my chance of developing cancer and other chronic diseases that run in my family. I lost 42 pounds. I went from a size 16 to a size 8. When I started my lifestyle transformation I was 200 pounds. Now I’m pushing 158.  I went from a couch potato to an endurance athlete. Running ½ marathons and short distances like 8Ks for fun and doing cross training. I hope to eventually train for a cross fit competition and sprint triathlon. It’s not only about showing others how to make a healthy lifestyle transformation, but walking the walk.

The world of fitness is about image. If I don’t look the part, I cannot expect people to want to hire me or listen to what I’m saying. I can’t fill my body with empty calories, gain weight and not keep fit. Sure I still have a lot of work to do to sculpt and tone. That’s what exercise is all about. Becoming fit, consistency in diet and exercise are part of what a healthy lifestyle is. Follow through and follow up!  Why not share that with you. If I can do it, so can you!

Life Encounters

Since my healthy lifestyle journey I have met hundreds of people in fitness, people who enjoy working out and people from my classes at the gym, running groups I belong to. Such as Black Girls Run! San Diego Chapter, I invited them to come this evening. I hope some are here. I also belong to National Black Marathoner’s Association and professional organizations such as IDEA. I‘ve been invited to co-teach fitness classes and whoop our football team into shape. My next phase in my fitness business is to become a Zumba Fitness instructor and Beach Body Coach. What is going to be your phase in fitness?
