Acidophilus or Lactobacillus, is a bacteria. This bacteria can be found in the mouth, intestine, and vagina (protects against bad bacteria that causes bacterial and vagina infections). L. acidophilus benefits health, as it produces vitamin K and lactase. L. acidophilus is mostly found in the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract where there are higher amounts of these nutrients.
